Antique Ñawi Chuspa
History: Traditionally this Chuspa, small purse held coca leaves, that were exchanges with strangers, or friends as a for of greeting. This pieces shows the intricate Ñawi Awapa, "eye boarder" that was applied to the edge of the purse and makes up the strap. This waving is thought to have special protective powers. The geometric shapes on both sides of the purse symbolize the Titikaka Lake.
